Volume III is published in two parts and has more than 900 pages. This volume covers settlers on the waters of Cripple Creek from Austinville to Smyth County Line, in what is now Wythe County. It also covers the Lead Mines area, Poplar Camp. Foster Falls, and Mine Mill Creek and places east of Wytheville, such as the Cove, Fort Chiswell.
